6 Essential Productivity Hacks for Busy Entrepreneurs

April 3, 2024

Do you ever feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day? This is a common struggle for entrepreneurs, who are often overloaded with tasks. Despite their hard work, they may feel like they’re constantly falling short of their goals.

There is a way to break this cycle! Inspired by Brian Tracy’s “No Excuses” and my own experience, I’ve compiled a list of tips and tools to help you maximize your productivity.

Taking Breaks & the Pomodoro Technique

We just talked about self-discipline, so why are we talking about breaks? The best route to accomplishing things is to make sure that you’re well-rested and can follow through on working those long hours. The goal isn’t to work more hours—the goal is to get more done.

If you’re not the type to take a break, and many entrepreneurs are not, you may not know where to start. I suggest trying out the Pomodoro technique. This is where you work for 25 minutes, take a five-minute break, and then repeat. If you were doing an eight-hour work day, this would work out to 16 sessions, or 16 of these work periods and breaks per day. That’s a total break time of an hour and a third.

Of course, not everyone works best in short bursts. Once you commit to taking breaks to make yourself more productive, experiment with what might work for you.

Set Your Priorities Nightly

Our evening time is spent in exhaustion. The morning starts, and everything is rushed. You feel like you’re just setting out fires all day and night. How do you avoid this feeling in the morning? Take time at night to set out your top three priorities for the next day. Whatever else you need to do, set out to focus on these three things. You’ll accomplish the most essential tasks, which will cut down on the urgency you feel.

Use a Notepad

During the day, you tend to get great ideas but are usually too busy to capitalize on them right away. Use a notepad and jot down those ideas for later. If you’re the kind of person who also gets thoughts like “oh, I still need to send that email,” or “oh, I need to check in with the client,” a dozen times a day, you can use your notepad to write out those thoughts, so hopefully you can let go of them and focus on what you’re doing right then.

Make Time for Self-Improvement

You are the best investment you can make. There are always ways to take better care of yourself or learn to do things more efficiently, which can make you more productive in general. Be sure you’re taking the time to be coached and to learn.

Focus on Your Strengths, Delegate the Rest

You should focus on whatever you do best and most efficiently. Everyone has weak spots, and there is no reason to waste all of your time trying to get them done. You can delegate tasks that take too long or are a waste of your time. If social media marketing is one of those things for you, delegate it to me. I can get you great results, and you can spend your time on what matters.

So there you have it! These are just a few ways to outsmart the clock and become an even more productivity entrepreneur. What are your favorite productivity hacks?
