Boost engagement on socials using this simple hack

February 21, 2024

Here’s a simple and easy tip that I shared with my strategy client last week who was wanting more comments on her content:

Within one minute of reviewing her content, I identified the problem — She was asking open-ended questions that required a lot of thought to answer.

They were great questions, but weren’t encouraging people to comment… they had to think a liiiiitle too hard.

If you confuse ‘em, you lose ’em.

So what should you do? Instead, make it SO EASY for your community to comment on your posts.

Think simple, yes-or-no questions, or asking your community to pick between easy choices. You can also ask them to comment a single word or emoji!

Simplifying is the key here. Give it a shot, and who knows? Your comments might just hit the bars. It’s like rolling out the glam carpet for your community—totally inviting the comments by making your audience task as EASY as possible.

Need some inspo? Try these out:

  • Yes-or-No: “Ever tried this? Yes or no?”
  • Multiple Choice Fun: “Today’s mood: a) Blue b) Red c) Green”
  • One-Word Wonder: “Weekend in a word—go!”
  • Emoji Extravaganza: “Sum up your day with one emoji—let’s see it!”

‘Cause honestly, engagement should feel like a fabulous chat, not a brain marathon. Cool?
