December 4, 2024
We’re zoooooming toward the end of the year, and the Q4 finish line is in sight.
If you’re feeling that “gotta hit these goals before midnight strikes on December 31” pressure, take a breath. You don’t have to white-knuckle it through the finish line.
Instead of burning out, let’s talk about smarter ways to get things done (and feel good doing it!).
You don’t need to overhaul your whole life to see results. The secret sauce? Small, intentional habits that make a big impact.
For those on my Instagram stories, you may have seen I’m taking a college course right now on public speaking. This is an article they had us read on the Neuroscience Behind Habit Change and it could not have come at a more perfect time! One quote I’ll leave you with:
“The brain hardwires everything that we repeatedly do – this is how habits are formed. So the stories we tell ourselves over and over become default paths, the circuitry the brain naturally activates.”
Ready to make the most of what’s left in the year?? Let’s dive in.
Choose ONE day per week with time set aside for working on your content specifically.
If weekly doesn’t work for your current schedule, you can do this bi-weekly or monthly. Use your batch day to get your content ready to go so you can dedicate the rest of your time to WHATEVER ELSE you need to get done. Or you know, taking a little screen time break—pls don’t ask me to check what mine is currently.
If you want an example of a batching schedule, drop a message on Instagram and LMK. I’ll show you what I use for clients!
Always schedule your posts ahead of time rather than posting manually.
IDK about you, but I’m not trying to individually publish each of my posts on the day for all platforms, especially if you’re posting 4 to 5 times a week. That is a HUGE time killer, and there’s really no reason not to schedule your posts ahead of time. No more worrying about whether you posted or not, instead, keep it consistent and stress-free!
For a super easy scheduling tool, I’m a big fan of Later! I use it for my posts and all of my clients.
Every time you get distracted, it will take you that much longer to get back on track to the task at hand.
Ok not to call you out or anything, buut I see you opening TikTok and laughing to yourself as you scroll your FYP or check up on the latest from Moo Deng on Instagram (IYKYK ).
When it’s time to focus, whether that’s writing captions, replying to comments/DMs, or brainstorming content ideas, try to work on ONE task at a time. Even if it’s with a 5 minute timer. While taking breaks in between is important, the involuntary and sometimes mindless distractions are the true time-killers.
Take a piece of content you made in the past and reword it, make it new and fresh.
I can’t recommend this enough: REPURPOSE! If you’re short on time, struggling to come up with new ideas, have a post that did really well, or need to fill in the gaps on your calendar, whatever the reason, you can totally reuse previous content! Sometimes it’s even okay to repost something almost the exact same but with a few small tweaks. Your audience isn’t going to call you out for reworking a post from earlier this year (or last month even!) that you decided to reuse.
Create actionable steps, stick to the plan, adjust it as needed, and make the most of your time showing up on social.
