I’m going to be honest… when people ask me about my email marketing set-up, they often expect to hear about some complex automations I’ve set up or some intricate segmentation strategies. I am VERY happy to inform them that it doesn’t have to be that complicated at all.
First off, I use Flodesk (I’m a proud partner, meaning I can get you 50% off your first year using this link!). Super easy to use, incredibly user-friendly, and they offer the most aesthetically pleasing templates among any other platform (THE place to design beautiful emails). Truly, an incredible email marketing software for small businesses.
Secondly, their poll feature has given me a whole new toolkit to drive my membership program forward (and other offers) and create content that ACTUALLY resonates with my audience. Want a peek behind the curtain to see exactly how I do it? Let’s dive in…
So I’ve been running my weekly content membership (Impact Content Calendar) on Flodesk for nearly two years now. And I was constantly guessing what my members wanted. I’d create resource upon resource, hoping they’d love and use them. I’d add things to the calendar then takeaway other things. All because nobody was taking the time to fill out my Google Feedback Form, and honestly, I don’t blame them.
Then I discovered Flodesk’s poll feature and holyyyy game-changer.
Every month or so, I send a super simple poll to get feedback on some element of the membership. Things like:
That is IT! Members click once, and I instantly know what they actually want. No more guessing. I also use polls to ask:
Within three months of implementing this poll strategy, the feedback was incredible. My members felt more seen, felt like it was more of a two-way-conversation, and the resources ACTUALLY reflected what everyone wanted to see. Open rates were higher & I was elated.
Just a few ways the poll feature work wonders:
I don’t think I fully appreciated how powerful that last point was until I tried it. When someone votes for a specific topic, they’re automatically tagged. This means I can send them more content about exactly what they’re interested in.
I truly believe the future is all about AI and personalization, and this is a great step in that direction, to better serve my community.
If you’re ready to stop guessing what your audience wants:
Sometimes the SIMPLEST solutions are the answer. Who knew that “just asking people what they want” would be the strategy that changed everything?
