The Burnout Cure: How Saying No Can Save Your Energy and Align Your Business Goals

January 8, 2025

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen that my vibe has always been about traveling the world and working with clients who align with my LIFE-first business approach. It’s all about balancing work with personal freedom.

But let me tell you—things took a serious turn recently.

Why? Because I said yes to two projects that weren’t in alignment with my values or goals for the quarter. And boy, did it hit hard.

Cue the burnout. (Honestly, wouldn’t recommend it.)

The “Yes” That Led to Burnout

When those opportunities came my way, I felt super excited. You know that adrenaline rush you get when you think you’re some Superhuman CEO who can handle everything? I definitely had that.

But then reality hit—and it wasn’t pretty.

Suddenly, I was sending late-night emails, working weekends, feeling completely drained, and questioning why I even said yes in the first place. I was so caught up in the excitement of new opportunities that I ignored the fact that they didn’t truly align with my mission or my energy.

You know what they say about all that “living my best life” stuff? Well, turns out it’s a lot harder to maintain when your calendar is packed with things that suck the life out of you.

The Power of Saying “No”

It took a while, but I finally got real with myself. I had to learn to say “no.” No to clients who weren’t the right fit. No to time-sucking commitments that drained me. I even turned off discovery calls and new inquiry forms just to take a breather.

And, let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer. Saying “no” has allowed me to say “yes” to the things that truly matter.

Yes to guilt-free midday tennis matches (because self-care matters). Yes to downtime that doesn’t involve screens. Yes to projects that genuinely light me up. And yes, finally—YES—to binge-watching Gilmore Girls (how did I not start this sooner?!). Each “no” has made space for a “yes” that actually fills me with energy and joy.

Setting Boundaries = Reclaiming Time and Energy

Setting boundaries isn’t just about protecting your peace—it’s about reclaiming your time and energy for what really counts. I’m done filling my calendar with things that leave me drained.
